SECTORS / ELECTRONIC MONEY ACTIVITIES

 

Pursuant to the Law no. 6493 on Payment and Securities Settlement Systems, Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions published in the Official Gazette dated 27 June 2013 and numbered 28690, electronic money is a monetary value that is issued in return of the funds accepted by the electronic money issuer, stored electronically, and used to perform payment transactions, used to perform the payment transactions defined in the Law No. 6493 and accepted as a means of payment by individuals and legal entities other than the electronic money issuer.

Electronic money can be issued by electronic money institutions authorized by the CBRT, banks operating in accordance with the Law No. 5411 and PTT.

Electronic money institutions can also provide payment services within the scope of the operating licenses granted by the CBRT.
