ABOUT US / ORGANIZATION AND STATUS

The Association is a professional organization in the nature of a public institution being formed as a legal entity, to which payment institutions and electronic money institutions operating in Turkey are obliged to be a member within the scope of Additional Article 1 of the Law no. 6493 on Payment and Securities Settlement Systems, Payment Services and Electronic Money Institutions.

The Association performs the following duties and exercises the authorities below:

  1. Carrying out training, promotion and research activities in order to ensure the development of the profession.
  2. Ensuring the compliant work by the members in accordance with the needs of the economy, in the discipline and unity required by the profession through determination of the profession’s principles.
  3. Determination of the professional principles and standards that should be followed by the members of member organizations.
  4. Announcement of the decisions resolved pursuant to the relevant legislation and the measures requested to be taken by the The Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye (Bank) to its members.
  5. Taking and implementing all necessary measures to prevent unfair competition among its members.
  6. Determination of the terms and conditions to be complied with by the members in their advertisements and promotions in terms of type, form, quality and quantity.
  7. Filing lawsuits based on the Board of Directors decision on the matters concerning the common interests of the members.
  8. Ensuring cooperation on joint projects among its members.
  9. Establishment of an arbitration assembly within the scope of the procedures and principles to be prepared and approved by the Bank in order to ensure the evaluation and resolution of disputes among its members and individual customers, without prejudice to the provisions of the Law no. 6502 on the Consumer Protection dated 7 November 2013 and the filing rights granted under the other applicable laws.
  10. Formulating a strategy to ensure the development of the payments area, and the activities of the members and taking resolutions for the implementation of the respective strategy.
  11. Cooperating with national and international organizations on behalf of the members, promoting payment institutions and electronic money institutions and working on informing the public on this matter.
  12. Following the professional developments on both national and international levels, legal and administrative regulations and informing the members in this regard.
  13. Evaluating the complaints asserted with respect to its members, notifying the Bank of the results of the action taken and sharing such actions with the members.
  14. Following up the implementation of the decisions and measures taken by the The Payment and Electronic Money Institutions Association of Türkiye (Association) and imposing the disciplinary penalties stipulated in this Statute against the members failing to timely and completely comply with such regulations.
  15. Keeping general and statistical information on members and disclosing it to the public on a regular basis.
  16. Ensuring regular information flow between the Association and the Bank within the requested framework.
  17. Fulfillment of other duties assigned by the Bank.
  18. Fulfillment of other duties set forth under the Law no. 6493.
